So, I’ve been quite neglectful of the site the last week or so. If you frequent here, or whatever, sorry for that. We’re in the middle of a big change for our newspaper’s web site. We are switching over to the host I use for this site. Since CyberSuicide.com is currently such a small thing, I think it reflects well upon them that they have been so awesome to me and handled everything quickly and courteously. Not that I’ve run into any big problems, really. As with anything there have been a couple of bumps here and there over the last, 4 or 5 years, all handled to my satisfaction.

Anyway, that’s what I’ve been doing. The news site will run on WordPress, like this one; and compared to our old host and service, it is very fast. We’re also going to run bbPress for the community fora. If you aren’t familiar with bbPress, it’s a forum/bulletin board script from the folks at WordPress. It’s pretty slick and offers nice integration with WordPress.

Our print edition also comes out this week, so it’s kind of a “double tap” on the time front. But, the new site is in a state where it can sit for a couple days while I get the print edition put together, and wait for the domain name transfer to kick in and propagate throughout the intarwebtubenets. I’m really excited about the move, and hope to have much more fun in the future putting all the pieces we have in mind together.

On a different note, I had a Logitech G7 Wireless Laser mouse go on the fritz a while back. The left button was acting haywire and doing things of its own accord. I got the RMA and shipped it back to them. Got an e-mail today that the replacement shipped out today via DHL. I’ve never really used DHL or had things come via DHL, but I may start to think of using them more often. In the quest for some type of constant connection with a package sent or awaited, I would find myself checking the UPS or FedEx tracking info almost constantly. Checking the tracking info today on my incoming shipment from Logitech, I noticed that DHL had some nifty tracking options. You can request e-mail notifications throughout the shipping process. So, I chose to be notified of when it goes out for delivery, so I can be on the look-out without having to check the site all the time. I also elected to be notified of any exceptions during shipping, and delivery notification just in case it gets dropped at the wrong location.

I don’t get packages very often, so it’s kind of like Christmas in whatever month. Hopefully DHL becomes an option for more of my shipping needs; I like the features.

Also, I recently got in some shirts from the Printfection store I have. I’m very impressed with the quality. It’s almost as good as a true screen print run, but all done digitally. Shipping and general order fulfillment was much faster than advertised or expected. The shirts we ordered were of my design. Got a few “Think Delhi” shirts (One for a local business owner, one for my nephew, and one for the wife), a “Shirt of Lurking” for myself, and a “Baby Chug” for my mom.

The shirts all came out awesome. I’m very pleased and think you or anyone without access to their own screen printing shop would be very pleased. It’s really hard to beat a real screen printed item; but, to be economical you need to make runs in the hundreds or better and handle all that stock. Printfection’s product is very high quality, printed on demand, and no stock to handle. It’s just great.

Well, hopefully I’ll have time to make more frequent updates in the near future.

Well, the opening night of the Delhi art show was pretty good. People seemed to like the prints I made of the shirt designs. Hopefully that will translate into some sales. Forgiven By Grace played a pretty good set and had the place rockin’. The show is running until the 26th of this month and will feature another group of musical entertainment. We’re not sure how many sets will be played, but at this point it’s a firm two. Forgiven by Grace will be playing again, as well as at least one opener “act.” If the weather is more pleasant than it has been the last week or so, they music will most likely be outside; or a combo of inside/outside depending on the needs of the individual set.

On to the new designs.

Got some new designs, and I think they are some of the best yet.

This first one was done on request by a few people in Delhi. Hopefully it will help to promote the idea that the town of Delhi isn’t just a bedroom community for Bay-Area transplants.

This one is pretty funny. Not that it’s a great idea to make fun of addiction, but come on, this one’s damned funny.

Anyone who watched Stargate SG-1 will know this saying, you might even recognize it if you just happened to catch the show in passing from time to time. Teal’c was, like, constantly pointing out that… well… his symbiote protected him; from everything.

Well, looky there, it’s a Puffin on a roach. Puffin on a roach. Yeah, it takes a little brain power, but not much.

Mmm, don’t you feel like going and getting a nice, tall, icy cold, glass right now? I’m probably going to spin this out into a series of somewhat disturbing observational humor based designs about everyday things that no one really thinks about. If you thought this every time you sat down with cookies and a tall glass, you might not actually ever drink the white ever again. Unless it had chocolate in it; chocolate makes almost anything good.

(By the way, I really like how the milk design turned out. I’m very happy with the glass. I was going to have a cow’s behind instead, but it just didn’t fit with the feel I was going for. Maybe I can use it for something else down the road.)

The Delhi Spring Art Show will begin on April 5th. There will be live music and everyone will just have a generally good time. You can see some of my paintings and prints; as well as work by other local artists. It will be taking place at Perfect Blend coffee shop in Delhi, California. Start time should be around 6:30pm; I’ll double check and update if that time is wrong.
